December, 2014 Christmas Party

Merry Christmas from the Birmingham Doll Club!
We hope that everyone has a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.  We celebrated with our annual Christmas Party held on December 7th.    We each brought a different type of salad or desserts to share.  The food was delicious and a festive time was had by all.  Of course,  the highlight of the party was the exchange of Secret Santa gifts.   Santa treated the Birmingham Doll club members pretty well.......

Janet received two cute little girls

Jill received THREE!

Scenes from the November 2014 meeting of the Birmingham Doll Club

The November, 2014 meeting of the Birmingham Doll Club focused on dolls designed by Dewees Cochran.  Dorothy Clark served as hostess and presented an interesting history of Dewees Cochran's life and career.  Here are some of the beautiful dolls (originals as well as reproductions) owned and loved by club members:

A Great Day!

The Magical World of Alabama Doll luncheon held on October 11, 2014 was a big success! The Birmingham Doll Club  would like to thank everyone who worked on the project and our guests.   A lot of hard work was performed by many different people and the results were worth it!  The location at the Shoal Creek Country Club was inviting and cozy.  The food was wonderful.  Many people enjoyed seeing our special guest Miss Iwate and learning more about Miss Iwate from her escort, Mary Beth Newbill (Head of the Southern History Department at the  Birmingham Public Library).  Thank you to Dorothy Clark for telling us all about fairies and the mischief they can cause!!!  Here are some pictures from the event:
