From the top are: Japanese figurines (I bought a box of these when I was a child for 25 cents), a glass-eyed parian man (rare), a bisque-head (no glaze) doll with jointed composition body, and a china (shiny glaze) doll.

THIRD PLACE UFDC WINNER FOR CD MADE BY OUR CLUB

Here is our 3rd Place Certificate awarded by the United Federation of Doll Clubs for our "Boy Dolls" CD, which we made of dolls owned by club members. Congratulations to us! But especially to Jill, who organized everything, along with Elisa, who did the photographs and put it on CD. These CD's are rented from UFDC for club programs. 2 AZUMA DOLLS AND CARVED SMILING HITTY

Here are 2 Tom Azuma dolls - a Bru Jne and a wonderful Japanese doll dressed authentically. Sharon Kirby carved the Smiling Hitty and dressed her, using a tie-dyed handkerchief. Great!

This is the home page of UFDC. When you click on Regional Map, you can get the latest news for our Region 9, including the start of a list of club websites - just what I've been wanting!!! Yeah!!! One is listed, and I sent the new director, Deborah Jenkines, ours. She called and offered to visit one of our meetings and give a program.

HUNTSVILLE SALE FINDS

I bought the 7" flapper (A.M.) last year at the Huntsville sale, and replaced her missing hand. I found the 10" boy china this year. He is all original, and has brush-stroked hair, kind of rare. The doll dress on my German doll at the bottom was bought at the Minton booth. I love the wonderful small green teddy bear (8"), bought from the lady at the first booth (one with all the shoes); he could be Steiff, but is definitely old. I sprayed lightly with foam rug cleaner, wiped, then brushed when dry.

Here are photos of Sheryn H. Minton's booth at the Twickinham Doll Show & Sale. They had a good variety with good prices. I bought almost everything I got from them. They are from the Belles & Beaux Doll & Toy Guild of FL, and their club did a French Doll Study for UFDC.

I will later post pictures of our recent visit to the Twickinham 2009 Doll Show and Sale (Aug. 15), but in the meantime check out their website.

BROWN-EYED FLAT TOP CHINA DOLL

Here is a recent ebay find. Brown-eyed chinas are rare, and this lady is a big one - 30" tall! Notice her wonderfully expressive hands. The body is really old, but I'm not sure it's original. She has sewn-on black leather shoes. The dress is old, but not original to her.

I was googling around this afternoon. I found several of this year's convention doll for sale on ebay. I guess some folks just get them to sell.

My sister and I just got back from the UFDC Convention in Atlanta. It was a wonderful week. We attended several programs, went to the Kathe Kruse Luncheon, the Madame Alexander Dinner, four workshops, the Bid and Bite Night and the Banquet.

The first program we went to was the video winners - and there was Jill's video - 3rd prize winner. We were so excited that Jill placed. I picked up the winning certificate for the club.

Here is a picture of some of the dolls that I made, bought, and won during the week:

The doll on the left is the "helper" that I won - it is called "Prince William." The baby on the right is my big purchase - a Bylo Baby. I fell in love with her. She is marked and has her original dress.

The Convention doll is the lady in the left box. She is quite lovely.

My sister and I took hundreds of pictures. Her husband is going to put them together in some kind of presentation. When it is finished, I will share it with the club.



Next year the convention will be in Chicago. I hope we will be going to that one too. It was an exciting, exhilarating week.
